The Purpose of Education

‘Change We Can Believe In’, this is the motto of the president of United States of America, Barrack H. Obama during his campaign to become the president. A change, is not impossible. There are many factors in order to make sure the changes we want become a reality. There is no doubt, we need education vitally to change the world to become a better place of living. If anyone deny this, let me give three concrete examples to show the importance of education to change the world which are the condition of the modern world, the imperialism era, and the global warming issue.

First and foremost, in the modern world where the education is concern, the progression of new discovered knowledge become quicker than the past era. As we can see, new technologies are introduced every day. In the past era, people took hundreds of years to prove the existence of atoms. When atom is discovered, where education start to take place, it is not just atoms, we manage to discover the inside of atom and inside of the inside of atom within less than 100 years. Not just prove their existence, the human civilization can even apply the discovery into technologies where we use in the gadgets nowadays. This proved that a world can change if education is concern.

Next, another argument that prove the purpose of education is to change the world is during the imperialism era. The imperialist occupying a country wont let the people of the occupied country being given a good education. The history of India for instance, Mahatma Gandhi travel to South Africa and been educated there. When he returns to India, he starts to lead a nationalism group to fight for India independence from the British. The example of what had happened in India years ago strongly support the motion of the purpose of education is to change the world.

Lastly, the global warming issue. To make people all around the world to realize the fatality of global warming to the humankind, we need a media for that. Education is one of the media used by the activists to create a community who aware of the global warming problem. Using education, we can make our Earth to be a greener planet.

In conclusion, I can say that those who deny that the purpose of education is to change the world are people who don’t think wisely. All the points given above strongly support the world changing purpose of education.

When British Invaded Malaya...

This is what happen when the British came to Malaya and turned my beloved country into one of their occupied land. Commenced from the Pangkor Treaty 1874, there goes a tale of an invaded country, language and mind. People in Malaya started to used English as their first language. 'Thanks' to the British, all the national affair and businesses were run in English. Those who can master this language will earn the top post anywhere in Malaya.

Unfortunately, this mental attitude still in the mind of Malayan people even though they already earn the independency more than half century ago. The name already changed into Malaysia but not the mentality. Most people still do not have confidents to use their own language in all aspects.

While thinking on how to influence those unconfident people, I am not going to stick with just Malay language. Now I am starting this new blog contained my opinion regarding the issues all around me - economy, science, world, politics, environment, etc. All will be in English. Well there is no harm learning it anyway, and I am forethought of learning other languages also. Sounds cool of knowing many languages ayt.(=
